The 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles last weekend. Major stars like Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, and Rob Reiner were on the list of winners.
Bad Bunny makes Emmy history. His Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show received seven awards, winning in every category it was nominated in.
It became the most awarded Super Bowl halftime performance in Emmy history.
For Bad Bunny, it was also his first Emmy, awarded for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), both as a lead performer and producer. His 13-minute halftime show also won awards in categories such as directing, music, choreography, sound, lighting design and camera work.
Sabrina Carpenter also won an Emmy for her special The Muppet Show. She received the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) award, for which she served as executive producer and performer.
The Muppet Show was produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1976-1981 TV series of the same name. She edged out Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour to win her debut Emmy Award.
Among the other major winners was late filmmaker Rob Reiner, who won the award for his guest role in the series The Bear.
Meanwhile, Julie Andrews won Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her role as Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton.
The superhero series Spider-Noir starring Nicolas Cage received five Emmys for cinematography, sound editing, stunt coordination, title design, and visual effects. Notably, the show was cancelled after one season just days ago.
This year, the Academy renamed the ceremony the ‘78th Emmy Awards (Creative Arts),’ dropping its previous title, the Creative Arts Emmys. The main ceremony will be held on September 14, handing out 19 major awards.
