Karan Johar is set to produce the love story of Radha and Krishna under his banner, Dharma Productions. Kannada director Sachin B Ravi will reportedly helm the project, reports say.

Known for iconic romcoms and family dramas, Dharma will produce its first-ever mythological film. As per Pinkvilla, the film will follow Krishna’s birth to the eventual defeat of Kansa. However, the core of the story will remain Radha and Krishna’s eternal love story.

A source close to the development shared that Karan Johar had always wanted to bring the story on screen but had been waiting for the right script.

“Karan Johar has been wanting to make a film on Radha Krishna for the longest time, and he has finally found a script that does justice to one of the biggest and most iconic love stories from the Indian scriptures. The film is in the advanced stages of development at the moment,” the insider told Pinkvilla.

According to the reports, Director Sachin Ravi will lead the project under Dharma Productions. “Sachin Ravi is currently writing and directing the film for Dharma Productions, and pre-production is moving along fast,” the source added.

Sachin Ravi is a director and editor who works in the Kannada film industry. He previously directed the fantasy-adventure film ‘Avane Srimannarayana’, starring Rakshit Shetty and Shanvi Srivastava in the lead.

The film went on to become a commercial success in Karnataka. He has also edited films such as ‘Kirik Party’ and ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’.

The production house has not yet confirmed the casting or other details of the project.

Dharma Productions marks a shift from film studio productions, mainly comedy entertainers or romantic stories. Karan Johar last stepped into the director’s role in 2023 for ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.
